By concentrating on problems being faced by people in small towns and villages across the state, news channels can establish better connectivity with people and help in improving living conditions.

Often many issues being faced by people go unnoticed and rarely reach theauthorities at the state capital. Issues like bad roads, bus and train services, lack of schools and health centres, indifferent officials and govt employees, law and order problems to name only a few. Elected representatives’ indifference to people who elected them to sayone more issue.

This is because both electronic and print media are concentrated in Hyderabad and obviously focus on the happenings in Capital. The few programmes which are region-specific, travel and tourism items are only of passing interest.

Core issues of people spread out in innumerable villages and small towns rarely see light of the day in newspapers or TV channels.

The more dispersed the media coverageencompassing the whole state, the better it is. Moreover, it would be better if news coverage of political leaders is avoided altogether as their contribution in bettering societal conditions is virtually nil nowadays.

Inaugurations and ribbon-cutting reports, dull speeches and third rate expert commentaries serve no purpose.

Channel news becomes more relevant if they connect more wityh common people and their problems than P3 celebrities leading cushy lifestylersin State capital. Try new faces than sedate-looking beaten track alleged intellectuals and pseudo experts in discussions.
